About

Langhorne Creek is a wine region shaped by water, heritage and generations of winemaking. Around 78 kilometres from Adelaide, its flood-fed soils have helped establish a strong reputation for bold reds, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon, while a growing collection of cellar doors brings fresh energy to the region.

The area is home to some of the world's oldest recorded Cabernet Sauvignon vines, with fifth-generation families continuing traditions that have been passed through the region's vineyards. Today, more than 18 wineries contribute to a diverse wine scene, from established producers to makers experimenting with new ideas and styles.

Wine is best enjoyed at the cellar door, and Kimbolton Wines offers an accessible setting with rooftop views, family-friendly spaces and award-winning wines. The region also comes alive each November for the Handpicked Festival, bringing music and wine together among the vines at Lake Breeze Wines.

With its combination of historic vineyards, floodplain landscapes, cellar doors and a relaxed approach to hospitality, Langhorne Creek makes an easy day trip from Adelaide and a worthwhile addition to a Fleurieu Peninsula touring route. It is a region where the stories of the past remain firmly planted in the vines, while the next generation of winemakers continues to shape what comes next.
