Park closed for aerial shooting for feral animal control
The following sections of park will be closed to the public from 2pm Sunday 1st November until 10am Saturday 7th November 2026 for an aerial pest control operation:
- Badja Swamps Nature Reserve
- Berlang State Conservation Area
- Deua National Park (West of Merricumbene Fire Trail) including:
- Berlang campground
- South East Forest National Park (Nunnock Swamp section) including:
- Alexanders Hut campground
- Nunnock campground
- Postmans campground
- Wadbilliga National Park – West of Wadbilliga
Campgrounds in Wadbilliga National Park as well as Bendethera campground in Deua NP are not impacted by this operation and will remain open.
This program will involve aerial shooting during daylight hours. Feral species targeted under this program include deer, goats, pigs, foxes and other pests. It aims to reduce the significant impact they have on native plants and animals including threatened species.
Closure signs will be established at all visitor access points to the shooting area. Visitors should not enter the shooting area during the closure period.

About
The waterfalls, forest giants and ancient granite tors car touring route will take you right past White Rock River picnic area.
Located in the south western side of the park, this great picnic spot features picnic tables and wood barbecues set beneath a towering canopy of ribbon gums; it’s a great place to stop to stretch your legs.
As well as being easy on the eyes, this part of the park is especially important. It provides the habitat for the endangered long-footed potoroo. While you’re unlikely to see one of these nocturnal marsupials yourself, you may well spot their tiny tracks, newly-dug holes or even some of their favourite snack; fungi.
