Since its formation in 1961, the Society has been actively collecting objects of historical interest related to Yass and the district. The museum was officially opened in its present location in December 1988 after extensive refurbishments were made to a former garage over five years.
The Yass Valley History Centre is a registered charity with a nationally significant archival collection, extensive reference library, rotating exhibitions, bookshop and a personalised research service.
The museum is conveniently located just two doors from the Yass Valley Information Centre and adjoining Coronation Park with its playground and toilet facilities.
Exceptional museum staffed by passionate and highly informed staff. Highly recommend visiting on next stop to historic town of Yass located in the Southern Tablelands of NSW. QR Codes on various displays provide insight into times past. Maps, books and archival documents also available for viewing. Open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Overall a wonderful experience and well worth exploring!
Run by two very friendly volunteers who welcomed me with open arms. It’s a standard country museum with loads of information about the history and people of Yass.
A nice place to learn about history of this town. Friendly staff inside. Must visit place, close to visitor center.
Great little museum. The staff are locals and very knowledgeable about the area.
Interesting historical museum.
