For 40 years, George Street stalwart Jacksons on George has been a drinking and dining hotspot – but following a major rebuild, it reopened in 2023 as a completely transformed venue. The sleek, three-storey space houses a ground-floor public bar and a Euro-inspired bistro recognised with a hat in the Good Food Guide. Ex-Icebergs chef Steven Sinclair is at the helm, serving a menu that celebrates local produce and includes an express two-course lunch midweek. Upstairs, the open-air rooftop bar is an urban oasis, complete with a big screen and regular weekend DJ sessions.
