Box Cutting Rainforest Walk

The walk descends into a gully of grey myrtle rainforest featuring trees laden with mosses and lichens. Bright orange and white fungi glow in the cool shade and birds-nest ferns grow in the dense canopy. Wonga pigeons, lyrebirds, satin bowerbirds and crimson rosellas are regulars in the rainforest. The signposted trail is in the Bodalla State Forest and leads off from Box Cutting Road on the western side of the Princes Highway.

A beautiful short walk thru a rainforest. Saw a goanna and many birds. Large tree ferns, huge trees and ferny ground cover. Steep steps down into the gully, not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

Super easy walk through some lush rainforest. Plenty of bird life and sounds. The Bell bird calls are especially beautiful. Park up one end and either walk back along the road or double back along the path like we did. Keep your eyes open and you might spot a lace monitor or two on the side of the road on the way in

A pretty short but very beautiful loop walk. Heard wonderful sounds of many birds and marvelled at the sun light coming through the trees. Definitely worth a visit if you feel like a moment of peace and quiet.

Fun, family walk. Children, below 5 may have some difficulty walking the track. But, don’t miss it. Only takes 30mins 45mins. Longer if you want to take it all in. Listen for the birds... absolutely, amazing sounds.

A great walk to do with small children! Heaps of ferns, mosses and vines throughout the walk. The ground is dense in vegetation but the track is easy to follow. The walk goes for around 700 metres in a loop and took us about 45 minutes to do. It is a short drive from Narooma where the road is unsealed for around 2km.
