Spectacular Camel Rock is an ancient rock formation comprised of folded 470 million-year-old turbidite beds that were created by underwater avalanches 450 million years ago.
There is a viewing platform for this popular scenic attraction, a picnic area in the shade of several large trees, toilet facilities and car and caravan parking.
Take the 1.5-kilometre walking track at the back of the viewing platform to Murunna Point, featuring elevated lookouts and panoramic ocean views.
Murunna Point is a significant Aboriginal place with views to Gulaga (Mt Dromedary) and Wallaga Lake as it opens to the sea.
Camel Rock Surf Beach is well known for its great surfing, swimming, snorkelling, and rock pools to explore and fishing. The beach is patrolled during the summer months and is well sheltered if there is a north-easterly wind.
Parking is available at Camel Rock Beach car park, found along the unmarked road off Wallaga Lake Road.
If walking from Murunna Point, parking is available at Wallaga Lake Reserve along Wallaga Street.

Camel Rock is just a 10-minute drive north of Bermagui on Wallaga Lake Road. Visitors using a wheelchair or with limited mobility can enjoy the accessible viewing platform, offering stunning views of Camel Rock and the coastline. While the beach and walking tracks are not wheelchair accessible, the lookout is a wonderful way for everyone to experience this iconic Sapphire Coast landmark.

Lots of parking and easy drive to get in. Viewing platform very close to the car park and a short walkway down to the beach. Horse head rock only a 750m walk from here too.

Easy road in and a good sized car park. There is a viewing deck just off the carpark next to the beach access. Beautiful views of camel Rock and the beach. The walking tracks for horse head rock and another lookout are also here.

Very grateful to have stumbled across this gorgeous and sacred aboriginal site for the Yuin people. Got to appreciate the stunning beach and beautiful rocks / shells / waters and everything here. Feeling more cultured and grounded after visiting here and appreciating the significance of this scenic area.

We rode bikes from Reflections Caravan Park Bermagui. It is a good ride and most is on the coastal track or Wallaga Lake Road to South Tilba Road. A Paved section of the track along the coastal dune next to the beach is closed (120m, July 2026) but the rest is fine so you can scramble onto and off the beach back on the track and get to Tilba Rd (north) to the signposted turnoff I highly recommend this as a cycle or run of around 10km each way
