Sand Dune Adventures (SDA) offers clients an exclusive 'Cultural Quad Bike Riding' experience like no other; traversing the majestic and traditional landscape of the Worimi Sand Dunes / Port Stephens in New South Wales, recorded as the largest coastal moving sand mass in the Southern Hemisphere.
Customers ride safely from bush to beach on a 400cc quad bike and take in the glorious views of the sweeping coastline (no experience necessary) with experienced Aboriginal guides.
Customers receive hands-on introductions to authentic Aboriginal culture and history, visiting ancient campsites and learning about the local bush foods, medicines and the secrets of finding fresh water. SDA tours cater to beginners to experience and offer the thrill of riding sand dunes that climb as high as 100 feet.

One Hour Quad Bike Tour
Head off through a regenerated bush track onto Stockton Sand Dunes on a tag-a-long tour led by Aboriginal guides riding only at a speed the clients are comfortable with. From the top of the highest dunes, which can reach 40 metres in height, you can enjoy 360-degree views of the area. The 400cc Kymco Quad Bikes are fully automatic and exceptionally safe. You will be given an introduction to the quad bikes, including safe ATV handling and riding techniques. A helmet will be arranged for you as well before you head off. Highest coastal sand dunes in the Southern Hemisphere and they are not open to the public, so the only way to see the big dunes is through Sand Dune Adventures. No experience is necessary. Please note: the high dunes are dangerous for untrained riders and are only available under the tour guide's supervision.
1.5 Hour Aboriginal Culture, Sandboarding and Quad Bike Tour
Head off through grassland and regenerated bush then out onto Stockton Bight with guides driving at a speed that you are comfortable with. Your one-and-a-half-hour adventure involves an introduction to quad bikes and riding familiarisation; guided quad bike tour through grassland, and forest; riding up and down the coastal dunes, Aboriginal culture talk and sand boarding; and a guided tour back via the high sand dunes. You will hear and learn about their age-old connection to country. You will be exposed to a unique and dynamic hands-on experience that promotes their traditional stories. The high dunes are dangerous for untrained riders and are only available under the guide's supervision. No experience is necessary.

Joined the tour on New Year's Eve and had massive fun with the crew. This is easily the best experience on our two weeks road trip from Melbourne to Newcastle. Our two teens (17yrs) took to the ATV for the first time with ease, thanks to the experienced guides and had a fantastic time. Quad biking on the sand dunes was exhilarating and the guides were sensitive to individual's abilities so we rode confidently! We will definitely recommend this and come back again!

Hands down one of the best experiences ever! Massive shoutout to Rodley, Lachy, Glenn, and Rob… these guys are literally the best guides you could ask for. From the moment we arrived, they brought the best energy and made everyone feel comfortable and excited. Since it was our first time riding the bikes, they took extra time to explain everything clearly, check in with us, and make sure we were confident before heading out. They were super patient, made safety a priority without killing the fun, and even stopped to take photos so we could actually enjoy the moment instead of worrying about anything. The vibes were unreal, the guidance was top-tier, and the whole experience felt so well looked after from start to finish. Could not recommend them enough would 100% do it again!

Great experience overall, the bikes were well maintained and staff and guides were very friendly. Would have liked a clearer pre ride briefing, couple more stops and briefing on the history of the site itself. The slight overcast weather helped too, making this a great New year's eve experience :)

An Absolute Must-Do in Newcastle! We had an incredible time with Sand Dunes Adventure! If you’re looking for a mix of adrenaline and stunning scenery, this is it. The entire experience was seamless, thanks to a team that is as knowledgeable as they are friendly. The Service: From the lovely staff at the office to our bus driver, everyone made us feel welcome right from the jump. The Ride: The instructors were top-notch, providing a clear and confident induction on how to handle the quad bikes before guiding us through the breathtaking dunes of Williamtown. The Photos: A massive shoutout to Scott! He went above and beyond to capture our group photos, literally pulling out yoga moves to find the best angles. The results were amazing—the contrast of the golden sand against the bright blue sky looked professional. The Little Details: Another special thanks to Lachlan for being so attentive and helping me get my helmet fitted properly. It’s that kind of genuine care that sets this place apart. Had an experience yesterday and it was hands down the best quad bike experience I’ve ever done. This was my fourth time quad biking, but my first time with this company, and it completely exceeded expectations. The tour guides were amazing, knowledgeable, fun, and made the whole experience even better. The staff were super friendly and helpful from start to finish. The fast-paced ride really kept the heart pumping and made it such an adrenaline-filled, unforgettable experience. Overall, it was just an incredible time. 10/10 — highly recommend!
