Oakfield Ranch Camel Rides

This is a amazing experience and I highly recommend it. I've done this twice now with these guys - the first time was years ago, during the day for the short 20min ride, and then the long sunset ride last weekend. Book ahead if you want to do the sunset ride. (There were a lot of people who tried to get in without prebooking and it was already full.) The guides are lovely. They're friendly, informative and funny. The camels are gorgeous, but please only pat or approach the ones that they tell you are okay to say hello to. (They have coloured tags so it's easy to see which ones will be okay with strangers patting them and being up close in their face.) You can ride the camels with or without shoes. (You can leave your shoes with them if you need to.) They give you a helmet to wear. You can take photos and they'll also take photos for you (using your phone or camera). This is a great family activity to do.

If you travelling to Anna Bay, do not miss out this experience. Best to pick a cooler day. You can either choose a 20 minute day ride with no booking required or 1 hour sunset ride. We arrived for the first ride of the day & didn’t wait long in the queue. We did the day ride & I found it so enjoyable & 20 minutes was enough. Staff are really professional & kind. They were open to answer all your questions & were giving you information all through the ride. We had one of the twin sisters walking with us (I believe her name was Lilly !) & she was just so lovely. Camels are super intelligent animals & these camels are rescued animals. Staff were careful about how to allocate people to appropriate camels to ensure both the camel’s & people’s safety. Tyron was our one who had a green tag meaning that he didn’t mind a little pat & being in a photo. I observed staff being really kind to the animals & hoping that they get looked after properly as giving so many rides a day is not easy on them. Stick to the rules & you are safe. Parking can be a challenge so allocate yourself enough time. There’s limited paid 4 hour parking available but not enough for this beach & all the activities happening around it.

Riding camels was an absolutely unforgettable experience! Seeing these incredible creatures up close was amazing, and the ride itself felt like a journey into a real desert with all those sand hills. What's even more surreal is that the beach is just a short walk away, offering a unique contrast. The staff were fantastic, making the whole visit even better. They were super friendly and kind, especially Jordan, who was hilarious and full of interesting facts about the camels. He also took some great photos of us during the ride, which was a huge plus. They even let us chill in the shade with some water while we waited, which was really appreciated on such a hot day. Plus, you can wear whatever you like, shoes or not, they don't mind! The location is easy to find, right at the bottom of the hill from the main car park. Just a heads up though, parking can be a nightmare – it was packed when we went, and the parking rangers were giving out $300 tickets for parking behind the yellow lines on the main roads. We ended up parking about a 12-minute walk away on the street to avoid a fine. Also, remember to wear sunscreen and a hat, as you can easily get burnt being in the sun, whether you're waiting or riding the camels. Despite the parking hassle, this place is a solid 5 stars and definitely worth a visit!

Thank you guys for a once in a lifetime experience. Heaps of information from the team. We only waited a bit longer as the camels weren't full of riders. Loved that we got to walk them through the waters edge. We were so pleased that the team stopped to take individual photos with everyone's cameras. Note that if you park on the lower lot, it's no charge.
