Sand Dune Safaris operate out of the beautiful seaside paradise of Port Stephens, NSW. They offer a number of adventure tours on the unique, scenic sand dunes of the Worimi Conservation Lands (Stockton Beach).
They are a small family run business who pride themselves on their personal service.
Their tours are designed for the whole family and are suitable for all ages and abilities. Ride in their comfortable off road vehicles. Highlights include sand boarding (sit down style), sand surfing (stand up style), the hidden outpost of Tin City, digging for pipis and enjoying the magnificent scenery and golden sands. Or design your own adventure and enjoy a private tour.
Sand Dune Safaris provide shade, tables and chairs at their private Sand Boarding location, and you can stay and play as long as you like! Most people stay 1-2 hours. An instructor shows you the safe method for both sit down and stand up styles, and supervision is provided. There is a shuttle bus every 10 minutes, when you wish to go back to the car park simply hop on the next bus.
The departure location is the lower car park at the end of James Paterson Street Anna Bay.

Tin City Safari
Join Sand Dune Safaris for a relaxing drive along Stockton Beach & discover the hidden outpost of "Tin City", emerging out of the dunes like a mirage! Beginning in the 1890's as two tin huts for shipwreck survivors, it then grew to over 36 huts during the 1930's. Eleven huts are still standing! A popular setting for film/photo shoots and photography enthusiasts. Learn the fascinating story behind Tin City, as well as the dunes and WW2 military history. On the way back down the beach you will stop and hunt for pipis, before driving into the magnificent dunes for some awesome sandboarding thrills!
Sand Boarding Safari
Take an awesome sand boarding adventure on some of the largest moving coastal sand dune systems in Australia! Climb on board one of the custom built four by four vehicles and enjoy the spectacular scenery across the magnificent dunes to their private sand boarding hill. The dune features many different sized slopes to suit all ages. Awesome family fun. They provide boards, and one of the friendly instructors will instruct on the safe use of the boards for both sitting down and stand up styles. They also provide chairs, tables and shade, so feel free to bring a picnic lunch. The landscape is picture perfect, so don't forget your camera. It operates like a shuttle service with a bus every 15 minutes, so stay and play as long as you like, and simply hop on the next bus when you are finished (the average time spent is 1-2 hours). Private tours also available by appointment.

I’ve been with this company maybe 4 or 5 times in the last couple of years for sand boarding and always had the best time! The staff are wonderful, friendly and accommodating, the different size dunes are great for a varied experience and something for everyone, you can also either stand or sit on the boards. There is storage for your belongings and a shaded seating area for a break on a hot day. I couldn’t recommend them enough and look forward to the next visit 🤩

This was the best experience I had!! The staff were so friendly and made things super smooth. I loved how they had options for the sand boarding so it’s accessible for adults and kids. Riding in the bus across the sand dunes was really cool!! Highly recommend :)

very well organised and smooth operation. The sand dunes were amazing . Our family of 4 had a fantastic time. The dunes were different sizes so we all had practice and worked up to the steeper ones. Great value , thanks guys .

We went sandboarding and honestly had such a great time! The experience was super fun. Jasmine and the rest of the staff were really approachable and nice when we went to ask for the activity, which made everything feel relaxed and easy. Max helped us out and explained everything before we jumped into the activity. And Andrew made sure we had a nice ride back showing us different spots and taking some pictures for us, he was talkative and really nice guy, which was a great way to finish the experience. Definitely recommend it if you’re thinking about giving sandboarding a go!

Great experience in the middle of Sahara-like nature. Sandboarding is great fun but even a bus ride to the spot was an adventure. Plus very friendly and helpful staff.
