This is a hosted stay through Hipcamp, below is the information provided by the Host regarding their offering.
Rolling hills, Quite still. Few trees, Much to see. Many granite rocks, Like sheep in flocks. Natural sounds, At ‘Duck Downs’. T.J Wilson The property is six kilometres from Dalgety township which is situated on the “Snowy River” NSW. The land was originally once a part of "Marranumbla Homestead". I have called it home since 1995 and now share it with my partner, son, Danish the Whippet, Murphy the Malshi and Finley the cat. The house yard only had 2 trees when I bought it and the house built originally in 1980 still needed completing on the inside. I have worked hard to create an extensive garden in a sometimes harsh environment. It's my peaceful part of the "Snowy Monaro", the property being 155 acres in total. A great place to wander and breath in the fresh air. From the campsites of Varney's View, Panoramic Patch and the Nookie Nook you can take a walk up the hill to the east along our mowed track and enjoy the 360 degree views.
We arrived for 3 nights and ended up extending our stay for an extra night because it was simply hard to leave this lovely campsite. The peaceful riverside setting, open green lawns and children happily playing in the river create a truly special atmosphere. Just across from the campground there is a charming local pub with a cheerful atmosphere and tasty food, which added even more to the experience. The host is wonderful – warm, smiling, and constantly walking around the campground to make sure everything is just right. If we hadn’t been limited by time, we would have happily stayed for a full week.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in our caravan at this beautiful clean and manicured park. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. There is easy access to the Snowy River which was a bonus for our JR as he loves to swim, also enjoyed the walk along the river. Across the road in easy walking distance is the Buckley's Crossing pub with above average pub meals and friendly staff and locals. We would definitely stop here again and highly recommend to anyone heading to this area.
A beautiful caravan park overlooking the Snowy River. Best views from the unpowered area of the river and historic bridge. The facilities are impeccably maintained and Natalie was so accommodating in all respects. Thank you. The pub just across the road is fabulous with great food and service and a wonderful part of the area’s history.
I stayed a night at an unpowered site and loved it. Loved being able to have a hot shower, too 😂 Got there after dark, so had no idea how beautiful the area was until the next morning. Toddler, dog & myself went for a beautiful morning walk before breakfast down by the river, and then again after our shower. Down by Snowy River, there's a rope swing (that I had a great time swinging on 😂 wouldn't go in the water, though, I'm too scared 🤣🤣 but swimmers said the water was lovely 🤭). Can't wait to pass through Dalgety again just to stay here again. 😍 The staff were friendly as ever and super accommodating. I loved every moment of my brief stay! 🙌🏻
For us it was a combination of things that made this a great place to stay. Very friendly greeting on arrival from Robyn. Nice grass shady spot. Snowy River Sound of a night. Buckleys Crossing Hotel within walking distance. Very clean and modern amenities. Plus it was so peaceful. Damn we miss it already.
