Blackwattle Alpaca Farm is a working alpaca farm located in the lovely rural township of Murrumbateman. They are a working alpaca farm with a herd of around 60 alpacas, many of them breeding females. Behind the scenes, they focus on breeding for quality fleece used in fibre processing—something visitors love learning about while meeting the herd.
Their farm is located only 25 minutes from Canberra, making it an ideal location for a day trip with family and friends! Their farm offers picturesque views and is in a unique location to learn about alpacas, their luxury fibre and the beautiful products they produce.
They have a welcoming farm shop, filled with a range of alpaca yarn and a wide selection of alpaca and llama-inspired gifts, and a cafe serving tea, coffee, cold drinks, sweet treats toasted sandwiches and cheese grazing platters. They also offer picnics on their farm, catered from their cafe.
To meet their alpacas and llamas, or to book a picnic, guests need to book a tour.
Visit their alpaca farm and learn about alpacas and farm life. They hope to see you soon at Blackwattle Alpaca Farm!
We had a great afternoon on the Boho picnic and alpaca walk at Blackwattle farm. The owners were very friendly and informative and the walk actually went on longer than it was supposed to because he shared so much information and allowed us time with the animals. My wife, 4 year old son and myself walked an alpaca and a huge but easy going llama for approx 500m return and then had time to feed a separate herd. Afterwards a delicious picnic of charcuterie food was laid on with a view of the farm! My son loved the alpaca cushion and toy that came with the picnic. Facilities are very clean and modern and the cafe seemed like it had a good range of other foods too! Highly recommend. 🦙
Absolutely adorable alpacas, lamas and baby mini goats! Place to have joy and to heal. The owner is beyond nice and knowledgeable about the animals. Very happy I’ve visited. There are also some cute woolen items in the shop if you like, and quite a fee yummy wineries around.😉Definitely a place to be!🙂🥰❤️🦙
I had a wonderful time at Blackwattle Alpaca Farm! The farm is beautifully maintained, and the friendly staff made us feel welcome. Interacting with the charming alpacas was the highlight—loved feeding and petting them. The informative tours were great. It’s a perfect spot for families and animal lovers looking to enjoy a relaxing time. Highly recommend a visit!
What a fantastic gem and close to Canberra! The alpaca walk and feed kept my six year old twins engaged and our guide was great with kids and alpacas alike. The facility is so nice and clean and very well managed. The little cafe was great too - highly recommend if you need to keep the kids entertained for a couple hours!
We had a lovely brunch with the alpacas. Feeding the alpacas and learning a bit about them was great. Brunch was also very delicious! Would recommend to anyone for a different and fun experience.
