It's so cosy, they have a big family of local kangaroos that visit most mornings and some afternoons. Get up early and bring your camera. They have been known to come right up the front verandah.
We booked in late for a sunday night dinner and we were pleasantly surprised. Grabbed garlic prawn skewer starter and scotch fillet and a wagyu rump mains, both were delicious, highly recommend corn ribs as a side, they were awesome. Definately recommend if youre staying in the Hunter.
We visited the Steakhouse. Not ones to complain but our experience is worth mentioning. The ribs were so cold when they were brought out. They were sent back and the same ribs were brought out slightly re-heated and not edible. The mac and cheese just tasted like oregano. I ordered the cannelloni but again was disappointed. Not fresh, cold parts in the centre and tasted awful. Went home and threw up. The server handled it all well but we left hungry and disappointed. The meal definitely did not reflect the reviews.
Great steak place in the hunter valley region. We went on a Friday and were offered the Friday feast. It was a huge platter with assorted meats and sides including brisket, sirloin, loaded fries, shepherd's pie and salad. Amazing value for 55pp. The atmosphere was delightful and welcoming. Plenty of parking available. We went for an anniversary and were greeted with two glasses of champagne on the house - a very nice touch. The staff were exceptional and went above and beyond. I would love to come back someday.
Place looked nice, got the share platter & a cocktail. Was super keen to try it. Unfortunately the food came out stone cold. For $150 we expected more. When they asked how it was and said it was cold the lady offered to ‘reheat’ our food. It’s steak 😅 who wants a microwaved steak? One very expensive night $172 & I would have preferred a quarter pounder from maccas. I’m sure the food would have been nice if it was warm unsure about desserts because I had spent enough for my cold food. Definitely wouldn’t recommend or go back.
We attended a concert at Roche Estate (which was fantastic) and so next morning a breakfast out before returning home to Sydney sounded good. We looked online and found what looked like a nice place in Lovedale, NSW. We arrived and immediately the experience with their staff was terrible - so we left that cafe without the opportunity to have breakfast and drove back to Pokolbin and found the Blaxland Inn. The staff were great, atmosphere terrific and the breakfast was awesome - thank you for making the morning a good one!! Also picked up some of their spices and looking very much forward to trying those :)
