Diamond Head campground

Great location. Shame there's only cold showers for the money! ***WARNING*** The road in, once you turn off the bitumen, is NOT gravel (as stated), it's red dirt. and it IS EXTREMELY corrugated!! we literally drove the entire length (several ks) no more than 20k per hour. (And yes you could go faster, but you can lose cupboards and water tanks too (which we did)!

One of the best national park campgrounds we have stayed at!! It is beautiful. The sites are laid out really well, and it has the best bathrooms we have seen at a national park (actual flushing toilets in a really big area). There was so many kangaroos lounging around the camp, and the atmosphere was just really nice with everyone sat around their own camp fires (which you can rent from the little reception office if you don’t have your own). Couldn’t recommend this more!!!

We didn’t spend a night here but stayed for the day as they have available parking for day use. We also used their facilities such as picnic tables and toilets. The main reason why we came here were the kangaroos and they didn’t disappoint! It’s an amazing way to see these beautiful animals in their natural habitat 🥰 We also started the diamond head loop from there and it was great!

Beautiful spot for camping, vans or tents. Right near the beach, clean facilities, but cold showers. Bring your own drinking water. Rough road in lots of pot holes. Can drive on the beach, but you need a permit. Fishing, surfing and swimming. Lots of friendly kangaroos, possums and large goannas. Can hire fire pits, wood and ice available for sale from the office. Friendly helpful staff.
