A fabulous little theatre in beautiful Kirribilli. Lovely bar with a great selection of drinks with fabulous water views. Bayly's restaurant is also fantastic, with good quality food including vegetarian options. A purpose-built theatre showing high quality performances with top-rate actors at reasonable prices, including discounted student tickets. Lovely, friendly, welcoming staff.
I highly recommend the Ensemble Theatre.

Always a great theatre to visit. I have been to three shows so far this year. easy to get to by public transport. Superb shows on offer, and a great theatre. I am looking forward to returning soon during the 2026 season.

I've never been to a show here I didn't like. Some are definitely more "like" than "love", but that's a scale which goes from "pretty good" to "utterly awesome". I can't recommend this place highly enough for if you want something you probably haven't seen before but you're definitely going to have a great time.
This place is a perfect example of why it's a shame that all the "mainstream" theatre productions these days are just a mindless musical adaptations of stuff which go for style over substance.
Nowhere else have I seen a show which has made me laugh as much as the ones here. Nowhere else have I seen a show with as much heart - and I'm not usually a sap for that sort of thing, but being close up and with minimal sets means the writing and the acting have to do all the work - and because they seek out so many original works, the writing is always superb (and the actors are always pretty good too, sometimes you'll get a face you know but I've never seen something and thought "they can't act").
The foyer can get a bit crowded right before doors open but when that's the biggest criticism I have about a place like this it should tell you how little there is not to like.

Ensemble Theatre is a quaint little theatre, delicious menu and bar. Staff are extremely lovely. Saw a show called Primary Trust, absolutely magnificent cast. Can't wait to see the next show at Ensemble!

Been going to plays at the Ensemble for years. Always something worthwhile, sometimes brilliant. The small size of the theatre - intimate is the term usually used - makes for wonderful connection with the action and easy audibility for those of us of a certain age too vain to wear hearing aids. The acting is always good and the often elaborate scenery perfect. The location overlooking Neutral Bay is wonderful, particularly during matinees when you can see the water in all its glory. Parking is often a bit of an issue but a bit of a walk along the streets of Kirribilli can't do any harm. The only real negative at the Ensemble is that the toilets are downstairs - no disabled access. That is unfortunate but would be difficult to remedy in the limited space. Other than that the Ensemble is a treasure to be cherished.
