Regretfully, after leaving a very positive review just one year ago, I’m only able to give an average review this time. Last year, The Remington opened up the restaurant early to cater for those leaving early to head off to the Aberdeen Highland Games. This was very convenient and thought they might do the same this year. But it was not the case. The restaurant was opening at 730am which was too late for us having to be out the door by this time so we relied on breakfast boxes being delivered to our room instead. Unfortunately, there was a major mix-up with our breakfast order, which was supposed to be delivered to our room and to another room with my relatives staying also. By 7am there was no sign of the breakfast boxes. Instead, I had to collect it myself, only to find there was no cutlery, no plates, and only one bowl for three people. When I asked for cutlery, the restaurant staff were dismissive and rude, telling me the restaurant “wasn’t open yet” and to come back later. The breakfast itself was ok but the bread provided being the two end pieces of the loaf, was poorly wrapped and not what you’d expect. In the end after chasing down the order, the cutlery and then realising the room was not equipped with plates it was too late to have breakfast and we didnt eat before leaving the hotel. We also found a dirty sock underneath the TV unit, raising concerns about the room’s cleanliness. When I reported this to reception, there was no offer to send housekeeping to remove it, so I had to pick it up myself and dispose of it. When I raised these issues with reception, the receptionist blamed the lady who checked us in saying she didnt do as she was supposed to. To top things off, on the second morning we were served cold coffee in the restaurant. When checking out with the lady had i raised my concerns with the day before, no apologies were offered, nor any acknowledgement or offer for future improvements were given. It was like nothing had happened. This stay was disappointing, especially given our excellent experience last year. For premium price accomodation, I would expect premium quality service. Very disappointing!
