Park closed for aerial shooting for feral animal control
The following sections of park will be closed to the public from 2pm Sunday 1st November until 10am Saturday 7th November 2026 for an aerial pest control operation:
- Badja Swamps Nature Reserve
- Berlang State Conservation Area
- Deua National Park (West of Merricumbene Fire Trail) including:
- Berlang campground
- South East Forest National Park (Nunnock Swamp section) including:
- Alexanders Hut campground
- Nunnock campground
- Postmans campground
- Wadbilliga National Park – West of Wadbilliga
Campgrounds in Wadbilliga National Park as well as Bendethera campground in Deua NP are not impacted by this operation and will remain open.
This program will involve aerial shooting during daylight hours. Feral species targeted under this program include deer, goats, pigs, foxes and other pests. It aims to reduce the significant impact they have on native plants and animals including threatened species.
Closure signs will be established at all visitor access points to the shooting area. Visitors should not enter the shooting area during the closure period.

Sheltered by mighty old-growth eucalypts in a patch of cool temperate rainforest, this picnic spot is the gateway to the exquisite Goodenia Rainforest walking track, an easy walk through a lush understorey of lilly pilly. The picnic area is a great spot to stop and relax before or after completing the 40-minute return walk.
If you're lucky, you'll spy some of the numerous birds living in the area, including lyrebirds and satin bowerbirds. See if you can spot the marvellous striped tail of the fan-tailed cuckoo.
