Clifftop at Hepburn

“I enjoyed my stay overall, but there were a few aspects that could be improved. The main thing I was disappointed with was that the room I chose didn’t include a shower. This was partly my oversight when browsing the pictures, but I feel it should be made more clearly noted in the room description. I also thought it was a little underwhelming to find the cheapest bottle of wine left in the room. While it’s a thoughtful gesture, a $5 bottle feels somewhat out of place for accommodation priced around $400 per night. There were also some quirky rules and details that made the stay slightly less comfortable. For example, shoes weren’t allowed on the rug leading from the front door, which was inconvenient given that cars have to be parked on gravel. My partner and I were also uncertain about the fur blanket — we weren’t sure if it was washable or not. Additionally, the coffee table hadn’t been cleaned properly and had a sticky residue in several spots. The extra cleaning fees for any minor mess also seemed excessive. There were two robes provided, which was nice, although we were hesitant to use them since the information booklet mentioned an additional fee. On a positive note, the bed was incredibly comfortable, the view was beautiful, and despite the lack of a shower, the bath was lovely and the provided products were high quality. With a few adjustments and clearer communication, this would’ve been a nicer stay

I suprised my fiancé with a 2 night stay in the lovely Sahara Villa for his birthday. It absolutely did not disappoint! The photos were beautiful but it was so much better in real life! We had kangaroos right outside our window. The decor was so charming. The Villa was clean had everything we needed for a short getaway. It was very private. Even though the weather was not the best that weekend, we were warm in the Villa. The spa bath and cozy upstairs bedroom was so lovely. Taxis are available to take you to and from Daylesford. Would highly recommend staying here and will most definitely be back to try the different Villas!

Extremely sad and disappointed that we had to leave, and that we were unable to stay indefinitely. We had the absolute pleasure of staying at EaglesNest, and ❤️ it. The location, the tranquility, the views, the fireplace, the bathtub, the bed, the lighting … an amazing ambience, and we felt like we had truly escaped to our place. Thank you to our hosts, for everything you do in making this place extra special. And thank you for letting us all share your world class getaway experience.

The property itself was good, but our experience with the host—David, the “Guest Experience Manager”—was shockingly unacceptable. We planned to charge the car in the evening after returning, so we didn’t feel it was urgent and wanted to follow the proper process. At 8:28 am on Saturday, we politely emailed in advance:
“Could you please let me know if there are any instructions and how we should pay for it? We would appreciate your guidance.”
This gave the host plenty of time to respond, and if we hadn’t heard back, we intended to call in the evening after returning. We received no reply for the entire day.After coming back from town, we realized our battery was sufficient to return to Melbourne, so we sent a second email simply to inform them that we no longer needed to charge, purely out of courtesy. David then replied immediately, not with guidance, but with:
“We do NOT allow unpaid power to be used from our power point for EVs.”
The tone was already accusatory, even though we had not charged at all. When we confirmed again that we wouldn’t be using the charger, he escalated further, implying we had stolen electricity:
“You indicated you got enough power, which strongly suggests you just plugged into one of our power points. We will ban you from future stays. Previous guests have stolen power from us…” This accusation makes no sense for two reasons: 1. The charging unit is locked—guests cannot physically access it without host permission. 2. The property can clearly check usage through their app/system, yet he chose to accuse first instead of verifying any evidence. We asked him to review our original morning email, and he responded by stating that respect should be mutual（However, the initial communication was disrespectful and threatened to ban us from future stays , and no apology was offered at any point), and claiming there was prior notice about EV charging rules. We searched every email and PDF—there was no such instruction anywhere. For a stay costing $800, guests should not be treated like criminals for simply asking a question and trying to do the right thing. Even after it became clear his assumption was wrong, there was no apology whatsoever. If you can guarantee you will not need any communication with the host, the place itself might be tolerable for one night (perhaps 3 stars for location). But based on the attitude and false accusations, I would never recommend this property to friends.
