About

Welcome to Hotel Ernest Bendigo– a requisite destination for the discerning traveler, for the seeker of style, for the avid historian, for the cultural connoisseur.

Hotel Ernest is the home to restaurant Terrae. Led by hatted chef Tim Foster, Terrae's menu celebrates the finest local and regional produce, including fresh ingredients from our own farm’s kitchen gardens and orchard. While rooted in modern European cuisine, our dishes reflect a deep respect for time-honoured cooking methods, infused with contemporary creativity.

Ernest’s suites have been meticulously transformed to introduce modern details, all while staying true to the hotel’s history. With sleek furnishings, high ceilings, gracious light-filled windows, and awe-inspiring artwork, the spaces are a narration of yesteryear’s journey into today’s comfort.

For the comfort of all guests, Ernest has been restored to ensure inclusivity without compromising on style and comfort. The Accessible Suite has been designed for guests who require additional space and amenities. A holiday is not complete without one’s furry friend. The hotel’s pet-friendly suite accommodates house-trained dogs so they are equally able to enjoy their stay away.

Situated in the heart of the CBD and a stone’s throw from the renowned Bendigo Art Gallery and city’s coveted eateries. Hotel Ernest is a boutique offering that provides holiday-makers with a luxurious, modern and ambient getaway set against a grand heritage backdrop.

Hotel Ernest was the perfect place to stay for our weekend getaway in Bendigo. It’s boutique, beautiful and filled with art and charm. Our suite was spacious, very tastefully decorated, a private balcony, and had beautiful natural light with a view out to Rosalind Gardens. Martin and the team made our stay special with amazing service, excellent recommendations on local food and activities, plus a tour with the history of hotel. I especially loved the vibe in the wine cellar bar. Can’t wait to come back next time we’re in Bendigo!
