Experience one of Australia's most significant memorial museums, the Bendigo Military Museum, housed within the striking and architecturally iconic Soldiers Memorial Institute.
Through world-class displays, the Bendigo Military Museum commemorates the service and experiences of Central Victorians who served in both World War I and World War II, alongside rotating exhibitions that showcase individual stories and unique collections throughout the year.
Step inside to explore a world where every artefact tells a heartfelt story. Feel the weight of a soldier's equipment, hear the roar of gunfire in the trenches, read deeply personal letters sent home, and reflect on the sacrifices our local heroes have made on behalf of their communities for more than a century.
The Bendigo Military Museum is a powerful place to connect, learn, and reflect together.

Today we visited the museum with our two daughters. We were greeted by friendly smiles and hellos as soon as we entered. Purchasing tickets at the front desk was simple and easy. I forgot the gentleman’s name who also is a veteran who showed us around, but he was fully of information which for someone new to the area was fantastic. We were firstly give a brief history of the grounds, the building, the people who were significant to the RSL during its early years and the people whose stories help fill the museum. Each room filled with many artefacts from different periods of wars down to different branches and companies with more personal service members belongings with their names and personal stories. For a country town, the museum and RSL Victoria have done a wonderful job preserving and maintaining the historical memories of those who served for their country from Bendigo and surrounding areas. The exhibition area is fantastic and we look forward to visiting again to see what is next in there. As you exit from the Ballroom, they have historical books and merchandise you can purchase for a reasonable price. I purchased a handmade leather Poppy and bookmark, made but men from the local men’s shed in Bendigo. Definitely give yourself plenty of time to visit as there is plenty to see. Thank you all for a wonderful visit.

First time in Bendigo and it’s absolutely worth the visit! From the stunning historic architecture and vibrant arts scene to the relaxed atmosphere and welcoming locals, this beautiful regional city has so much charm. Exploring the streets feels like stepping back in time, especially with its rich gold rush history. Definitely a place I’d recommend adding to your travel list!

Well operated museum about Bendigo's impact on Australia's military history, provides insights into the lives, conflicts and achievements of members who served in the defence force. Well worth a visit if you are interested in learning about the great wars and lesser conflicts.

Fantastic collection of history here and it's well presented. The staff there were amazing and very helpful, informative and friendly. It's a well presented cutation of fallen Aussies fighting to keep us safe. Definitely take a bit of time out of your day to stay and see snd read all there. Unfortunately I didn't have lots of time when visiting Bendigo but when I am back I will definitely go back and spend more time there.
