The Tallarook State Forest is a fantastic spot to enjoy a wide range of recreational activities including, four-wheel driving, bushwalking, trail bike riding, camping, fishing, mountain bike riding and horse riding.
Stay at one of the many campsites throughout the forest such as Flat Rock, Trawool Reservoir Camp and Tassie Camp. If you don’t feel like getting completely back to nature, Freemans Camp offers toilet facilities, picnic tables and barbeques.
Popular sightseeing areas include the Trawool Reservoir and Mt Hickey. Don’t forget to also pay a visit to the nearby Mt Disappointment State Forest.
Tallaroo has well maintained access roads and is a great place for a day trip or weekend away. Limited facilities and lots of space suitable for camping means you are likely to be away from everyone. 🙂

A beautiful place to visit. Great views from certain areas around the Tallarook state forest. All gravel roads are in pretty good condition, quite dusty but seem ok and suitable for 2WD vehicles. Make sure you visit Murchison Gap, Flowerdale, Strathcreek and Tallarook, outside the forest area for a great experience. The Forest tends to be pretty dry so take care in summer months and follow bushfire protocols. ☺️👍

Absolutely awesome State Forest with plenty of places to camp off the trail but still easily accessible. There isn't much in the way of water so best to bring your own. There are tracks for 4WD and dirt bike riding. Plenty of firewood. Most of the tracks are pretty well marked and there are plenty you can get an average van into. I really enjoy this forest and the lands around it.
