Wilsons Promontory Southern Circuit

Absolutely stunning places for views, walks of varying grades, beaches, wildlife, birds! Absolutely recommend a visit ( tho the campground is very crowded with dirt sites) . The wetlands, the mountains, the rock formations, ancient lava flows, the beaches, the broad walk , the river…all stunning.

Great view points but the hiking is a bit boring in between, small creeks and ditch, but you can eat frogs. Camping right next to the beach in this park must be a wild experience for a kids or adults ! We did 35km of hiking during that day and really enjoyed it. I would bring 2 cars if possible to avoid the 4 km of road walk at the beginning (or go during the weekend end enjoy the shuttle bus) and add the summit of Oberon instead. All and all it was great and amazing park

The roughly 4km trek up is a steady, manageable climb that rewards you with one of the most iconic views in Australia. Pro-Tip: Start your hike an hour before sunrise or sunset. Watching the light change over the granite peaks and the vast ocean below is a spiritual experience. Be sure to pack a sturdy pair of boots and a windbreaker, as it can get quite gusty at the summit. ​Where the Bush Meets the Beach ​After descending from the heights of Oberon, there is nothing better than heading straight to the beach. The sand is incredibly fine, and the water is crystal clear, offering a perfect contrast to the dense greenery of the national park. Pro-Tip: Keep your food secure. The local wombats are famously bold and will happily "inspect" your tent if they smell a snack! ​Whether you are watching the sunset over the waves or spotting wildlife near your campsite at dusk, the positive energy of this place is undeniable. It is a world-class escape that perfectly balances adventure with comfort.

I came for the nature, and left rejuvenated. Wilsons Prom is lovely and unfolds in layers - beaches that hum with coastal wind, forest trails and granite boulders. Every terrain shift felt like a new rhythm; dry bushland giving way to rainforest gullies, then unveiling into turquoise coves and squeaky white sand. Tidal River was grounding with its reflective pools, orange-tinged rocks and the kind of silence that makes you listen differently. Sealers Cove was a lush journey worth every step. And Squeaky Beach was pure sensory joy! The sand "squeaks" with every step, and the surf catches the light like it's inviting you in. I enjoyed watching the shorebirds pace the wet sand, chirping and circling with intent. They appeared to be part of the rhythm. This wasn't just a physical visit; it was a sensory and emotive experience of textures, contrasts and moods. For those exploring further, sights like Mount Oberon, Whisky Bay and Little Waterloo Bay offer even more layers of terrain and perspectives.
