About

Join Jessie from Yarra Valley Stargazing as she shows you the stars on a night sky tour in the Yarra Valley, which is just a one hour drive from Melbourne's city centre.

You'll learn how to find south, draw constellations, hear awesome stories of the stars, then look through my high powered telescope to see deep space objects which are not visible to the naked eye. Think the craters of the moon, the rings around Saturn, sparkling star clusters and nebulae (star forming regions). Many of these objects are only visible in the Southern Hemisphere.

If you're looking for expert guidance to better understand the night sky, look no further. No previous Astronomy experience necessary. Check the website to book on to an upcoming public night sky tour in the Yarra Valley.

For private stargazing session enquiries, email Yarra Valley Stargazing with the dates you have in mind and the number of guests that will be attending.

Stargazing in the Yarra Valley

Let me show you the stars in the stunning Yarra Valley, in an unforgettable 90 minute tour of the night sky. Just a one hour drive from Melbourne's city centre. Learn how to find south, draw constellations, hear awesome star stories, then look through my powerful telescope and binoculars to see deep sky objects which are not visible to the naked eye - and only observable in the Southern Hemisphere. Come together with your family, friends, or that special someone for a special evening under the stars. This event will help you to make sense of what's going on in the night sky. Check the Southern Sky Tours website to book on to their public night sky tours, which occur monthly at Oscar's on the Yarra in Warburton. You can also contact them directly with private stargazing session enquiries. In your email please include the dates you have in mind and number of guests that will be attending. This is a family friendly event. Please wear warm clothes and enclosed shoes - it gets cold in the Yarra Valley.

Main tourist attraction in this area. At 633 metres above sea-level, it is the highest point in the surrounding ranges. At the peak is the Sky High Restaurant, a cafe, BBQ and picnic areas, attractive formal gardens, and spectacular views across Melbourne the city from various viewing platforms. Views can also be enjoyed from Burke's Lookout, about one kilometre south of the Mount Dandenong peak. $10 entry fees for car. Definitely worth visiting this place.
