Muogamarra Nature Reserve

This was a fantastic experience. The walks were great, so many wildflowers, and spectacular views over the Hawkesbury. They only open the park for a few weekends a year to protect some amazing history and biodiversity. Do yourself a favour and book a ticket next time they open. We walked to Deerubbin Lookover, walking there was pretty easy. We had a 7, 11, 15, 45, 55, 65 year old. Coming back we took the long way round the loop. It was much longer and had a steep hill Walk, so be aware it can make the trip more difficult.

Open only from about mid-august to mid-september each year, this reserve is a special place you won't want to miss if you're a nature lover. There are lots of native flowers including Waratahs in bloom and short and long guided walks for people of all abilities. If you don't want to do anything strenuous you can do the half-hour Ridgetop loop with several lookouts. It's essential to book because it's very popular.

Even though it's only open for 6 weekends in Spring (Aug/Sep) it's worth a visit to see the native wild flowers and spectacular views. Book a guided ranger led walking tour so you get the full experience. Sydney bush walking at its best!

Only open to the public 6 weekends a year during spring, buy guided tour tickets so you can take your car in all the way. People who didn't have a ticket had to walk several kilometres down a dusty trail to get to the visitor centre and walk start point
