My husband booked the 2-night Babymoon package for us and we had the most magical weekend. We stayed in the Kookaburra villa overlooking the most serene rainforest & creek. Our food was just beautiful. We loved the breakfast hamper & warm croissants delivered in the mornings, the BBQ dinner hamper was just as fabulous! The room was equipped with everything you could need from coffee machine & homemade biscuits to mozzie coils - and the most accommodating hosts that were happy to help with anything you needed. We also loved the supply of boardgames & movies in reception for guests to borrow. We were super close to the heart of montville and had a lovely day trip to the rock pools and returned for our in room massage. Highly recommend staying here and booking their babymoon package - it was the perfect weekend before welcoming our new family member!!
I can't say enough good things about this incredible, luxurious and romantic retreat. We stayed here to celebrate my partner's birthday, and it couldn't have felt more special. The food was outstanding—from the generous welcome hamper and ready-to-pour espresso martinis to the warm breakfast croissants and delicious home-cooked meals delivered straight to our door. We could easily have spent our entire stay without leaving the room. And honestly, there aren't many places in the world where I'd rather have been. Between the private heated plunge pool on our deck, the sumptuous bath, the fully stocked pot-bellied fireplace and the beautiful rainforest setting, this felt like pure indulgence from start to finish. The staff were also exceptional—warm, attentive and genuinely committed to making our stay memorable. If you're looking for a romantic escape, it's hard to imagine a better one.
This place is seriously magical. The rooms are warm, inviting, cozy and appointed with everything you could ever need. Ali and Xochi are incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond for us to have a memorable anniversary. The magnesium pool, spa bath, breakfast hampers and freshly made delivered croissants every morning. All of the food they provided and we ordered was incredible. Couldn’t be more impressed! We would love to come back.
I booked the Black Cockatoo Villa for two nights and wanted to leave an honest review, as there were definitely both positives and negatives to the experience. Firstly, the villa itself is beautiful. The rainforest setting is stunning, the property matches the photos, and there were some lovely touches throughout the stay. The breakfast hamper was delicious, the cocktails on arrival were a really nice welcome, and overall the villa itself has a very relaxing atmosphere. However, for a stay priced at over $1,000 per night, there were several aspects that did not feel aligned with the “luxury retreat” experience being advertised. One of the biggest issues was communication and service. During the stay, there was no proactive check-in to ask whether we needed anything, and replies were often quite delayed. On the first night, I couldn’t connect to the wifi and also had no phone service, leaving me unable to contact reception properly. While I understand that privacy is part of the experience, luxury hospitality should still feel attentive and supportive. The food itself was enjoyable, but the value for money wasn’t great considering the pricing and portion sizes. The kitchen amenities were also much more limited than expected, particularly with no oven. Another major concern was checkout and safety. There was no offer to assist with luggage, and I ended up carrying a 30kg suitcase down slippery stairs myself, which resulted in me hurting myself. Even a simple checkout message offering assistance would have gone a long way. Cleanliness was also disappointing. When packing up to leave, I found an old dusty sex toy underneath the bed that appeared to have been there for quite some time, suggesting deeper cleaning had been overlooked. At this price point, attention to detail should be significantly higher. I also experienced issues with payment processing. I had contacted them immediately after booking to correct the payment card being used, however the incorrect card was charged again for the second payment. Despite following this up straight away and being told it would be resolved promptly, it took six days to fix, which caused unnecessary stress and additional interest charges. There was also confusion around a pre-arrival request where I had been told I could swap the complimentary port for white wine, only to later be told this wasn’t something they do. While they eventually honoured the request after I showed proof of the conversation, the interaction felt abrupt rather than welcoming. To their credit, I did reach out privately before posting publicly, and the response I received was apologetic and acknowledged the issues raised. However, no actual resolution or gesture was offered beyond the apology itself. For a property marketed and priced as a luxury experience, I honestly expected more accountability and customer care following the issues raised. Overall, the property itself is beautiful and has a lot of potential, but the service, communication, cleanliness, and overall guest experience unfortunately did not match the premium price point for me.
We recently stayed for a 4 night stay at Narrows in the Kookaburra villa. We booked the Honeymoon Haven package, and had the most amazing time! Ali and Xochi were lovely and welcoming, the villa was fantastic, and our itinerary was well thought out and planned. We've never felt so spoilt! From the welcome cocktails, the freshly baked croissants delivered every morning, even the insect repellent under the sink - everything was thought of. The heated magnesium pool was amazing, the rainforest was beautiful and so was the little town of Montville. We even had a beautiful king parrot come visit on the balcony. Such a romantic place! Thankyou for making our honeymoon so perfect, we can't wait to come back! Much love, Rhona and Jesse x
