NRMA Cairns Holiday Park is located in the centre of Cairns, where two World Heritage-listed areas meet - the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest.
The park offers a range of accommodations including studios and lodgings, as well as ensuite, powered and unpowered sites for caravanning and camping.
Facilities include a pool, camp kitchen, barbecue areas, television room, free wi-fi and tour desk. As the closest caravan park to the Cairn's city centre, the park offers excellent accommodation options for the backpacker, grey nomad and the seasoned caravanner.
Enjoy beautiful beaches, the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree Rainforest, Kuranda Village, the Cairns Esplanade and the shops, restaurants and cafes in the city centre.
Great park! Sites were grass, big enough with scattered shade. Nice pool. Outdoor camp kitchen which was well equipped. Extra star for the accessible power points on each table in the camp kitchen. This allowed everyone to charge and have the opportunity to chat and socialise. Functional bathroom and toilet facilities.
Absolutely epic spot to set up basecamp! I stayed in one of the lodging villas for the weekend while doing back-to-back dive trips out on the reef, and it was the perfect setup. I ended up rolling in after hours, but the staff made it super easy to get sorted with crystal clear instructions. Walking into a villa that was incredibly clean and fresh was exactly what I needed after a massive day out in the salt water. Just cranking the AC down to a chill 22 degrees Celsius, throwing on a fresh T-shirt and shorts, and kicking back was an absolute dream. Huge shoutout to the lady at the front desk, too. She was an absolute legend—super friendly and threw me some sick local tips on where to check out around town. The park's location is prime. It’s just a couple of kilometres from the marina for the dive boats, and the paths around the area make it an epic spot to just cruise on the surface skate. The whole vibe is super laid-back. I'll definitely be booking a villa here again when I head back up with my mates in October.
An average Holiday Park that has the perk of being in a central location, a busy place for Juicy Vans. Trailer sites are compact and not well maintained (too many trees to be capturing solar). The toilet/shower block needs a deep clean. Guest service team are helpful. I didn't sleep too well over the 3 night stay - the sound of sirens and locals throughout the night, every night. Have relocated to another local Holiday park.
Such a great park and the staff are really great. We had vehicle issues that made us miss a few days. They sorted us out and gave us a refund on the unused portion. That to me was above and beyond.. Really great location too. Can walk to the water front or get the bus from right outside.
We paid $62 per night for a drive through powered motorhome for 2 adults & 2 kids. Of the 6 caravan parks we stayed at during our 9 day trip, this was the most expensive, but the worst caravan park we stayed at (although this is not necessarily the fault of the park). The location close to the centre of Cairns is convenient. The amenities are ok, and mostly clean. Our motorhome extension cord was not long enough to reach our power point, while still allowing us to get out of the van without hitting a bush, so it was great that we were able to borrow an extension cord from reception for the duration of our stay. Bats nest in trees all over the park, but most of them are in a tree right above the camp kitchen. The stench is very strong. This is of course not the fault of the park, and the bats are actually awesome, and all over Cairns so it's to be expected, but is just something for guests to be aware of. I couldn't quite convince myself that it was the smell of the bats, not my food, when trying to eat haha. The pool didn't seem to be clean, and made my kids' eyes very sore, so they weren't in for long & I didn't let them go back. It was also disconcerting to receive a text message from the park at 8:30pm about a large theft problem, reminding people to lock everything away. This would have been better to be told at check in. This is a tricky one to rate, as it wasn't a bad stay, but wasn't overly enjoyable either.
