For an invigorating cycling route that takes you deep into the unspoilt wilderness of Blue Mountains National Park, head to Narrow Neck trail. A challenging ride suitable for novice and experienced cyclists, the track traces the elevated platform of Narrow Neck Peninsula near Katoomba. With breathtaking scenic views, wildflowers and photo opportunities at every turn; keen bushwalkers won’t want to miss out either.
From the gate, you’ll cycle through open forest, heath and swamplands with superb scenic views all the way. At one point, the cliffs fall away on either side and you’ll feel on top of the world. The trail opens up to heathland with spectacular views over Lake Burragorang.
If you’re after more cycle tracks through the mountains, try McMahons Point. For an additional challenge, cycle from the station, and you’ll be rewarded with extra views of both Jamison and Megalong valleys.

Access, facilities and practical details.
September 2025-road closure-NO CAR access due to road repairs (see photos) . Access by foot and cycle only. This firetrail is LONG. Some steep parts but worth the views. Cyclist- would not recommend riding down the steep parts as the gravel dirt is very dry and fine causing your bike to slide when you your try to brake downhill. Allergies/hayfever sufferers- check temps and wind strength so you dont have issues like I did. It was warm and windy so ended up getting hay fever during this hike which was unpleasant at times
Only did this once so far but we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a super warm day and glad we brought a couple litres of water and some apples. The views at the end are well worth the work, I say work because there are a few steep ups and downs and quite wild in places which I love, I'm not a fan of sanitising and board walking all the nature trails.
This is a wonderful place to experience Australia's natural environment. The day I went it was raining, however the clean smells and eerie colours made this a divine experience.
Awesome little walking track with some cool lookout points. Good for beginners as well
Fantastic place for a quiet bushwalk without the hand rails or too many other people around.
