For a museum in a regional city like Toowoomba, this place can be very useful and enjoyable. It is in a great location, very close to Queens Park, and it has several different sections. The science area can be especially interesting for children, but there are still many things that adults and older visitors may enjoy as well, especially tourists who want to learn more about the local history and culture. Another great point is that entry is free for Toowoomba residents. Overall, it is a nice place to visit and I would recommend it.
I had the pleasure along with 33 members and families from the Kedron Wavell RSL Sub Branch at Chermside to visit the Queensland Museum Cobb & Co at 27 Lindsay St, EastToowoomba QLD 4350. We had travelled from Brisbane to North Ipswich where we stopped off at the Queensland Museum Rail Workshops to see where Cobb and Co had originally commenced their journey by stage coach from Ipswich and through the various townships such as Rosewood back in the 1800's. The township of Rosewood is a great place to visit the Cobb and Co Heritage Park and museum to explore this historic site and enjoy some country hospitality. Rosewood was one of the staging posts where the Cobb and Co stage coaches stopped off before continuing their journey through various places such as Grandchester, Laidley, Grantham and Gatton before heading towards Toowoomba. The Cobb and Co Heritage Trail which is clearly defined is a journey of about 76 kilometres by road. The Queensland Museum Cobb & Co in East Toowoomba is definitely worth the admission of $12.50 for adults or $10.00 concession, it is free for people who live in the post code 4350, all you need to do is bring along your proof of address. The staff at this historically museum are more than helpful to assist with anything to do with the historical information of Cobb and Co and you only need to walk around and see the extensive range of of heritage listed collections of stage coaches, caravans and other well presented coaches of all types. There is a large well established workshop just down from the main cafe area this is where a the staff carry out the meticulous work of restoration of everything that needs to be done. The Queensland Museum display has everything that takes you back to the days of the horse and buggy such as stage coaches or anything that was used during the 1800's and the decades to follow 😀 There is a wonderful cafeteria onsite plus a gift shop on entry to this museum. Everyone from the Kedron Wavell RSL Sub Branch that went on this day trip from Brisbane definitely found everything to do with the historical museum at East Toowoomba and our road trip particularly from North Ipswich and along the Heritage trail definitely worthwhile. This is definitely one place to put on your bucket list visit when travelling through Toowoomba 👌
Such a cool experience seeing all the Aussie carriages and history from the times. They had all the professions and tools they used and explained lots of the trades from Ye Old Days. Was awesome to see at the end even some wildlife that had been preserved. Real mix of everything Aussie culture around travel and Toowoomba. Great for kids and parents alike. Cheaper if you from Brisbane or nearby too.
Perfect few hours to get kids back to creativity & fun. Loved the kids space with Create a Bug and puzzles area. The science area is interesting and the magnetic engineering wall is brilliant for thinking imagination. Great display of old wagons, carts & life-size horses, even one the kids could sit on. Hours of creative school holiday fun. Great museum.
Was just passing by and decided to go in and suss it out. Loved the museum! Their displays of restored carriages from the 19th century is amazing, well explained and interactive, really preserved a piece of Queensland history! There is also a science area for kids, very interactive and fun, highly recommended. The prices are fair, 12.5$ adults, and 10$ for students or concesion
