Rose Gums Wilderness Retreat is 200 acres of pure paradise situated just ten minutes from Lake Eacham in the Cairns Highlands. The houses sit in elevated rainforest surroundings looking out over Wooroonooran National Park. All luxurious pole and timber houses feature large baths, cosy fireplaces and balconies with stunning mountain or rainforest views.
There are pristine rainforest streams to explore, nine kilometres of walking tracks and abundant bird life with over 160 species recorded. Guided bird watching is available. A complimentary breakfast hamper is also included.
This cool tropical mountain retreat offers peace and relaxation and with its eastern outlook, guests are rewarded with fabulous moon and sun rises over the mountains. They are ideal for the romantic hideaway or the family holiday.

We absolutely loved our stay at Rose Gums!! We stayed in one of the studios and it was so quiet, peaceful and private. There’s so much to explore during the day, then coming back for a bath and falling asleep to the crackling fire was just perfect. Waking up to so many birds we’d never even heard before made it feel extra special. Such a beautiful little escape!

We had an amazing stay at Rose Gums. The treehouses are beautiful, peaceful and surrounded by stunning rainforest. We were lucky enough to see plenty of wildlife during our stay, and the rainforest walks were absolutely amazing. The new owners are so friendly and welcoming, and you can tell they genuinely care about creating a great experience for their guests. Rose Gums is a truly special place, and we can’t wait to come back!

If you are a nature and wildlife lover, there is no better place on earth to stay. Absolutely stunning accomodation nestled in the heart of the rainforest. The perfect hideaway to reconnect with nature. Your neighbour might be a cassowary. Wonderful stay with the family 🤩

Cannot speak more highly in recommendation of this place. David accommodated our booking on extremely short notice after a misfortune with another booking elsewhere. The treehouse was outstanding, location is central to the southern end of the tablelands, with easy access to several places of interest. Or of you choose to just stay at the retreat there are several walking paths and areas to explore. Can't wait to visit again.
