The Sunshine Castle is a Norman style Castle, complete with a moat, turrets and drawbridge and also home to Absolut Toys, an independent toy store offering quality toys at affordable prices.
Whilst parts of the Castle are authentically in ruins, the magic of its offerings are still alive. Unique in Queensland and Australia it allows visitors an access to European history that offers education and sparks imagination to all who visit.
After 50 years of service to this community, in January 2020 the Castle was forced to close part of it's original buildings and now restricts access to offer a mini tour, with history shields, armour displays in it's atmospheric courtyard and the iconic dolls and fairytales.
Children are sent on a Treasure Hunt and can choose a treat from the Kings treasure.
The self-guided educational history shields tour offers detailed information on the Medieval elements of the Castle and history.
The Castle Doll Museum was 'all dolled up' and renovated in 2020 showing off a diverse selection of dolls in a chic new home fully designed by a local Sunshine Coast artist.
The small cafe offers light refreshments.

For the price it was okay. You can take photos of yourself. So many dolls to see if you like dolls. Wish there were more things to do or something else was here rather than dolls.
Such a unique and nice place to stop on the way. It's a quick visit so even if you haven't planned it you can make a stop. The fun part are the board games and big games all around+ the kid's Quizlet. Only 10$ entry pp
Not a bad place. When I was there only a mini self guided tour was available for $10. More suited to little kids with doll and model train displays.
I recently visited Castel Sunshine Coaster and I was very disappointed. The place is not well kept, the gardens look sad , and everything feels old and forgotten. The worst part is that they keep a cockatoo locked in a tiny cage to entertain visitors. This is animal cruelty. In 2026, no business should be doing this. Not worth it at all.
Saw on the road had to make a u-ey and visit. For $10pp this was amazing. Feel a little bad about it all but incredible find. Hidden gem on the coast!!!
