We recently attended a Michael Jackson History Tribute Show and the concert was a sell out. Fantastic show arranged by the Star and excellent value. Some feedback I would strongly like to suggest is if the show is for paid seating, venues now do not allow standing in seated areas clearly stating this on the tickets for obvious reasons, being obstruction of the view and the seated persons enjoyment considering the price paid per seat. The artist initially encouraged people to come down the front to dance and so many did which is totally acceptable, however as the show progressed the artist also requested several times encouraging seated people to stand up and dance which was not acceptable. It then became somewhat out of control with people standing. The Entertainment Manager should strictly advise all artists not to request people to stand in their seated area to avoid this situation occurring and the other issue is if anyone does stand in a seated area there should be crowd control managing this situation to instruct these people to either remain seated or move to the front dance area. This did not occur therefore this was poorly managed. Also the row we were seated in happened to have a lady behind who constantly throughout the concert was screaming for extensive time periods in an incredibly loud voice which actually ruins it for people in that vicinity to enjoy. I have no hesitation in people enjoying themselves screaming etc, however this lady was beyond a joke and extremely out of control and disruptive, even to the extent of verbally abusing the lady in front when she turned around to look at her for her behaviour. The point I'm making here is I did observe staff in the direct vicinity of this lady throughout the night during her uncontrollable actions and no intervention with crowd control once again. This seriously needs to be managed more appropriately, if its not, there is a strong possibility of confrontation and aggression occurring anongst patrons all through no proper crowd management. I trust the Star Entertainment Manager shall see this review and hopefully take this feedback on board to avoid this disruption occuring at future shows. I have attended many concerts throughout my life and there is usually crowd control in place for this type of venue, not being a Pub environment which is to be expected. An example is many shows we have attended at Twin Towns Showroom, the crowd management has been outstanding with staff members straight onto any disruptive behaviour as I have mentioned in my post advising people to remain seated, etc. Unfortunately we were dissapointed with what had occurred and the concert was considerably ruined due to these situations.
My husband this past Thursday to Saturday surprised me for our 5 year wedding anniversary for a short holiday to celebrate. I'd love to say it was all wonderful but it wasn't. It was very clear that upgrades to the main entrance were happening but there was zero helpful signage to help people who have never been to your venue get there without a hassle especially on a 40 degree day! The actual accommodation was ok, the bed was comfy but the rest was very average, and I am still beyond belief you make guests pay for water. On the second day the water damage to your establishment considering the billions you make was so bad that half the gaming machines went down in your casino for at least an hour. The variety of pokies were as versatile at my local club in a country town. Your cards from your Sydney establishment wasn't giving any of the players points or discounts at the gold coast dispite it saying that all venues are linked. I saw not a single offer of any food for people in the establishment for anyone playing and drinking the whole time. I've never been to a single pub or club who did offer at least nuts at the bare minimum. Your staff were friendly, and is probably what the 2 stars were for. I wouldn't recommend and probably won't be back. Broadbeach offered a bigger variety and paid more in my opinion.
Had a great 3 night stay at the The Star Grand at the Star Gold Coast. The location was excellent & close to most of the restaurants we needed. It's right in front of Pacific Fair shopping center. The food was really good with plenty of great options to choose from. The staff were friendly, welcoming & always happy to help, which made the stay even better. Overall, it was a comfortable and enjoyable experience, and I would definitely stay here again.
Staff were always helpful. Parking system of $25.00 daily required payment is a mess. The public venue is rather outdated and apart from the Casino there is not even a cafeteria to sit down in the evenings. The breakfast restaurant named Harvest, these premises needs doing up. The breakfast variety is basic or two star. Better eat outside. The food quality was good. Restaurant staff were fantastic.
Fantastic week for our family of 7 at The Star Gold Coast. We had 3 rooms and were so happy with how spacious they were considering we would be there a whole week. We ate at all the restaurants and had room service and every meal was great. Buffet breakfast and dinner fantastic. Staff friendly and helpful, pools and spa amazing, and such a great location right by Pacific Fair. Loved it!
