About

Lake Mummuga Wellness Walk is a beautiful 2 kilometre looped walk in Bodalla State Forest, skirting the shores of nearby Lake Mummuga, taking in water and forest views.

This historical walking track is in the midst of an upgrade, with sooon-to-be-installed signage 'stations' along the way, featuring activities to help you leave stress behind and press pause on the mental chatter. Each activity will invite visitors to relax, take in the surrounding forest and connect to Country. QR codes on signage will provide online access to spoken words by local First Nations Elders and representatives Uncle Cecil, Uncle Paul Mongta, and Alinta Mongta, informing visitors about this special cultural place.

Exposure to forest environment and sounds has proven health benefits such as lowering blood pressure and improving overall wellbeing. The Lake Mummuga Wellness Walk provides visitors places to rest, reflect and listen to birdsong along the way. The first of three serenity seats is already installed along the walk, a new short boardwalk takes visitors through rainforest, and (coming soon!) a sky seat will allow visitors to lay down and enjoy views up through the trees.

Developed in partnership with Naturefix and Bodalla Local Aboriginal Land Council, visitors can experience the Lake Muumuga Wellness Walk for free in Bodalla State Forest.

Access is via Bodalla Forest Rest Area, just off the Princes Highway near Bodalla.
