The International Flag Display (the Display) in Canberra's Parliamentary Zone colorfully acknowledges the international presence in Australia's National Capital.
Originally launched in 1999, by the Governor General, the Hon Sir William Deane, the display has become an important attraction for tourists and locals alike.
The Display consists of 110 flags in total, representing 108 Missions that have a diplomatic presence as well as flags for the European Union and the United Nations.
The International Flag Display in Canberra earns 5 stars. This vibrant and educational display features flags from around the world, beautifully arranged along the promenade. It's a delightful spot for a stroll, offering a visual celebration of global diversity and unity. The well-maintained area is perfect for photos and learning about different countries. A must-visit for both locals and tourists interested in international cultures.
“It’s like a world tour without the jet lag.” The International Flag Display is oddly satisfying — rows of flags flapping in the Canberra wind like they’re all arguing over who’s got the best cuisine. Great for a chill walk, spontaneous geography lesson, or pretending you’re in the Olympics. Could use more info boards or fun facts though. I had to Google half of them. Good vibes, good photo ops, and free international clout. Worth the stroll.
`Cool place if you're like me and love flags, and naming all of them while walking around. Quick weekend escape to visit Canberra from Sydney, really weird city, specially for the roundabouts. Difficult to find a free place to park in the center, but easy to park outside and take the bus to the center.
I loved the flag display. It is interesting to walk through the flags and read which countries they belong to. Not sure what it was, but I loved it here. Great views across the lake from here also. Nice area to sit and relax.
Nice area for recreation.
