About

Domaine A is an iconic Australian wine estate. Established in 1973, the historic Stoney Vineyard is the oldest in Tasmania's Coal River Valley. Vigneron H. Peter Althaus founded Domaine A after a worldwide search for ideal cool-climate terroir. His vision was to find a site suited to producing some of the best big Bordeaux-style blends Australia has seen

This willingness to wait and an attitude of quality above all else (even the bank account) kept Domaine A quietly at the forefront of Australian winemaking until Peter and Ruth's retirement in 2018, when they handed over to the new custodians: Moorilla winemaker Conor van der Reest and Mona owner David Walsh.

At the cellar door, Domaine A pairs Bordeaux-inspired wines with curated European style cheese and charcuterie grazing that celebrates provenance.

Bookings for wine tastings are highly advised, though walk-ins are welcome (subject to availability). Bookings for cheese, charcuterie or the Bordeaux Pantry Experience are essential.
