The platypus house is the place two see 2 animals that is very rare to see them in the wild. It’s a tour organized accompanying by guide which in my case was very professional and tolerant. A good thing is to book you tour in advance the tour starts in a room full with posters that explain you everything almost about the animals you gone to see you receive an explanation about the tour that take approximately 1 hr. The first animal to see is the platypus I saw 4 of them in 4 separate pools you can take as many photographs you wish no video allowed. Then all the group is moving to another room where 4 echidnas are free moving among us it’s a great experience. The place is equipped with parking area toilets are toilets and small gift shop and some food
Tours were informative and you are guaranteed to see Platypus as well as echidna. Quite structured though. Friendly staff and guides. Large gift shop with a variety of gifts also in the building. Quite pricey at just under $40 entry.
A lovely place to meet some natives that you don’t normally run into in the city… or even in the bush (although I may have seen a platypus in the river once). The staff are knowledgeable, caring and good storytellers. Totally worth coming out for!
We had a lovely experience visiting the Platypus House. Our tour guide was very friendly, knowledgeable and patient. It was great to learn more about Platypus and the highlight was for sure doing the meet n greet with the Echidnas. They are such gentle, amazing animals. We also accidentally left thinking we had done the meet n greet. And they were kind enough to call us and wait for us to come back to do the meet n greet. It was totally worth it! Thank you.
