My dad and I spent five incredible days fly fishing in Tasmania, and it was truly a trip of a lifetime. Scott, the owner and lead guide, made us feel at home from the very beginning. He took care of every detail — from driving arrangements to accommodation — ensuring everything was perfectly organised so we could focus entirely on the experience. We fished a variety of waters, from rivers to alpine lakes, and enjoyed some fantastic catches. The learning curve was amazing as well: Scott dedicated so much time and energy to helping us improve our skills while making sure we had fun throughout. Scott wasn’t alone — the other guides, Jaydon, Peter, and Peter (yes, two Peters!) shared the same passion, professionalism, and enthusiasm. Their collective knowledge and support made the entire journey unforgettable. I highly recommend Tasmania Fly Fishing to anyone looking for a high-quality, personalised fly fishing experience. Scott and his team will make sure you have the best possible time on the water and you will catch some trouts, guaranteed! Francesco & Filippo
Great fishing! Scott was very accommodating when I rang with just a few days notice to see if he could "fit me in". He did, and Jayden my guide was great. He catered to my fishing interests, being creek/small river, and was VERY patient as he guided me and I remembered and relearnt my fly casting skills, not used for over 20yrs. Within a couple of minutes I was onto my first fish, which unfortunately threw the hook. But no stress, over the day I landed three lovely healthy Brown Trout. The largest 2.4lb, and during the brief periods I was resting my arm, I gave the rod to Jayden who landed two fish of his own. We were both very happy with a 5 fish day, and the three others I didn't land. Highly recommend these guys for a great day of fishing. Here's my three fish as proof. Look at that happy smile!
We enjoyed a 3/4 day fly fishing experience with Tasmania Fly Fishing. We were beginners but were never left feeling as such. Scott Murphy picked us up punctually and we headed out for some private river fishing. I thought it would be a long day but the time went so quickly. Some practice on dry land then into the waders and in to the creek. We had to be reminded to eat lunch - which was delicious. More fishing - but not long enough before it was time to go. My husband got a bite but did not get a catch. I was less fortunate. We saw trout but were not able to outsmart them on this occasion. I am sure we reduced Scott's chances of success as well but he was constantly reassuring. Just wading through a refreshing creek on a beautiful autumn day with the goal of "perfecting" our technique was fun. It's a bit like golf - lots of less-than-ideal swings/casts but the good ones make you want to pursue the game and the setting is so enjoyable even if the result is 0 fish.
Booked Chris and his offsider for a day of Fly Fishing in Miena. Chris is very affable and extremely concerned for everyone’s safety and good time. We were not able to land any trout as they are a very fussy fish but we all learnt a new skill and thoroughly enjoyed the day out and beautiful scenery.
Booked this tour for my husband. First time no experience no problem. Scott was awesome and easy going, very informative and learnt a lot during the day. Booking process is easy too. Highly recommended if you want to do fly fishing in Tassie. Scott and his team are your to go person.
