Snorkelling Potato Point

About
Potato Point is nine kilometres east of Bodalla. Follow Potato Point Road to the end, then turn left onto Long Street, left again on to Short Street, then right back on to Long Point Street. On the left of the street you'll find the beach reserve and a small drive to the boat ramp.
At Potato Point, snorkellers can find themselves suddenly enveloped in a school of kingfish or salmon. It's not an area for novices, and even experienced snorkellers need to be aware of a few important tips to make exploring this diverse and exciting marine habitat a safe and rewarding experience.
On the northern side of the point facing Potato Point Beach is a concrete boat ramp which is a good entry and exit point from the water, but there is a slight rip near the boat ramp which needs to be considered. The southern side of the point is more exposed and can be dangerous.
Marine life you might encounter at Potato Point includes wobbegongs, Port Jackson sharks and stingrays. The rocky reefs and sandy gutters also contain sea squirts and sea urchins.

Beautiful quiet lookout with stunning views along the coast and over Potato Point Beach. Easy to park the car (limited space though). Very peaceful, not crowded, and perfect for a quick stop with the kids. We also saw wallabies and kangaroos nearby, which made it extra special. There are no facilities right at the lookout, so bring water and anything you need.

A perfect little escape! Potato Point lookout offers stunning views of the ocean and nearby islands, all wrapped in peaceful silence and lush nature. A hidden gem for anyone who loves serenity and scenic beauty.

This is a nice lookout with good views of the ocean. However, there is a better lookout to the left of the carpark. You need to follow the path. On your walk to the other lookout you will probably encounter a wallaby or two!

If you are driving all the way out here just for this point, you’ll be disappointed. The view over the see is ok, but it is literally just a bench in a dusty parking lot, no amenities or anything. Maybe the beach would be ok, but else, I’d skip. P.s. the area was crawling with roos and wallabies so watch yourself when you are driving

Very private lookout. Great place to go to just stare at the ocean. There is multiple small wood benches for you to sit at and admire the ocean. The car park it dirt and not level so because of weather and car you drive. There is not much other then the views however there is large rock pool and rock cliffs to admire.
