WA Museum Boola Bardip is located in the arts and culture hub of Perth. Boola Bardip meaning ‘many stories’ in the traditional Nyoongar language, the Museum provides a bold, dynamic setting for Western Australia's fascinating stories, history and culture to unfold through state-of-the-art technology and innovative interactive exhibits.
Rising majestically above the heritage buildings of Perth’s Cultural Centre, this modern marvel encompasses 6,000 square metres of gallery space, including a 1,000 square metre large-scale exhibition space.
Wander the two intersecting loops to feel inspired by the virtual stories and collections held in eight exhibitions, which explore three major themes: the diversity and spirit of the West Australian people, the awe-inspiring beauty of the state’s landscape, and Western Australia’s impact on the world.
Boola Bardip takes a unique ‘people-first’ approach to its curation, with the stories and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples taking centre stage in its exhibitions. In doing so, the museum recognises the primary rights of Australia’s first peoples in practising and expressing their cultural heritage.
WA Museum Boola Bardip welcomes visitors of all abilities and aims to provide an inclusive, accessible and enjoyable experience for everyone. Available to visitors are Visual Supports, Sensory Maps and Backpacks, Visual Stories, designated quiet times and quiet spaces.

I love the WA Museum Boola Bardip. I like that it's so interactive and has plenty of things to see and do. Sad to see my era of gaming consoles now in the museum 😅, but pretty cool to bring back childhood memories. I love that there's heaps of seating available just to sit and reflect, talk about past generations to my children and help them understand what our history entails. When they were exhausted, I was also able to impart some history because they couldn't escape 😂. Parts I do miss since the big renovations, the old area seems inaccessible? Possibly I missed a turn or couldn't find it. I just seen the Blue whale hanging where always has been, in the old library. Another point is that the new parts are just not as exciting, probably that old feeling of a 'museum' is not there, I am just feeling the modern vibe. I also remember seeing sooooo many taxidermy animals when I was younger, while I had seen a few throughout the museum it felt like there should be more, also did I miss a part where all the boxes/ drawers of butterflies, bones etc went?
Located in the Perth Cultural Centre, this museum is a stunning blend of historic 19th-century heritage buildings and dramatic modern architecture. Its name beautifully translates to "many stories" in the local Whadjuk Noongar language. Highlights: • Otto the Blue Whale: A massive 24-meter skeleton suspended in a spectacular diving pose. • Rich History & Culture: Fascinating galleries showcasing over 50,000 years of continuous First Nations history and WA's global trade connections. • Kid-Friendly: Excellent educational videos that teach children about the environment (like water management and conservation) in a fun, easy-to-understand way. Open daily from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. A must-visit in Perth.
Excellent precinct to see an exhibition. Somewhat difficult access at present with renovations around the museum and library areas. The terracotta warrior display could have run better if people are able to go in and out freely without being in groups. This is done successfully in Brisbane with the Egyptian exhibition. Maybe they could look at this next time.
Checked out the Terracotta Warriors exhibit at the WA Museum and it's — super interesting. They tied everything back to the first emperor of China, his huge ambitions, and the story behind creating an entire underground army. Quick visit, but honestly worth it.
Thoroughly enjoyable and educational. You will need a day or at least half of it to get through it and give it the time it deserves but it's worth it. Vibrant, colourful, informative and interactive. Its fun for solo trips and the whole family. Good for gettimg out of tge house on a rainy day.
