Arkapena Scenic Adventure is a genuine four-wheel drive experience through some of the most spectacular scenery of South Australia’s Flinders Ranges.
The Arkapena track follows old mustering and fire trails on the 12,000-hectare Arkapena Station to the south and east of Wilpena Pound. The track begins with gentle slopes of dodonea bushland, arid native pine forest and Redgum creeks, among the foothills of the Chace Range. Here the geological history of the Flinders Ranges unfolds. Ancient sedimentary deposits of sand and silt have solidified and been moulded into the rugged slopes of the surrounding Chace, Wilpena and Elder Ranges.
Arkapena Scenic Adventure culminates in the Prelinna Lookout (679 metres) where you are rewarded with spectacular views of the surrounding Flinders Ranges.

Very challenging 4wd track taking you through many different gradients and natural obstacles.
The views are magnificent as the track takes you through semi dense and dense scrub with some fantastic look-outs.

Awesome track to experience with amazing views. Even with the weather change, majority of this 4wd track required low range for steep inclines & declines which was good fun.

Very cool 4wd trail. The big uphill section was closed. No sign at the bottom. But still was a good drive not challenging at the bottom section.

The track was for the average weekend 4WD enthusiast. The AWD track had a few challenging stretches but you never felt unsafe. The 4WD track had steep sections that would challenge drivers new to 4WD and a great entry level track.
