Ancient and rugged mountain landscapes, peaceful tree-lined gorges and a seasonal wealth of wildlife. The sense of space unique to the semi-arid zone combine to make Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park one of South Australia's iconic destinations.
Experience the park's spectacular scenery along an excellent network of walking trails. This park is renowned for its Aboriginal rock art sites such as Arkaroo Rock, geological history, impressive fossils and well-preserved cultural heritage.
The park comprises approximately 95,000 hectares. It includes the Heysen Range, Brachina and Bunyeroo gorges and the vast amphitheatre of mountains that is Ikara Wilpena Pound. Experience the native wildlife, rich cultural heritage, impressive geological features, camping opportunities and a range of activities including bushwalking, four-wheel driving, birdwatching, photography and mountain biking.
The desert “green”. We had read that the desert has had substantial rainfall , but still wasn’t expecting this much greenery ! Start at the Wilpena Pound visitor centre to plan your trip. Multiple hiking and sightseeing options , a special place in Australia; fingers crossed the UNESCO World Heritage recognition comes through in 2027 !

A fantastic park! The wild life is insane. Kangaroos, emus, rock wallabies, goats, ... everything is present in the park! The roads are sometimes gravel but perfect to drive!

The Flinders rangers was the most magnificent place I've ever been to, there aren't enough words in the English vocabulary to describe the beauty and art displayed in the land. Something to be respected and admired. Thank you for having us. We will be back

Definitely worth visiting, we spent there almost s week hiking, cycling, rock climbing, driving, sightseeing and just chilling! Go through the Wilpena campground, stay couple of nights and they also have information centre, fuel and grocery store there open during the day.

Amazing park. So much to see and do. Great for all range of ages. Great short and longer walks within the park. Easy to get around with 4wd and loads of super great camp sights.
If you’re a photographer there are so many locations to visit. We host two photography tours a year and visit in June and September. Another beautiful part of Australia.
