Yengo National Park

Awesome park to cycle through. But bring enough water. Finchley campsite does not have water. Has a drop toilet but no rain water tank. If traveling the Yango trail to Howes trail, be aware that Howes trail (through to Putty Rd) is extemely rough with lots of hike-a-bike sections. Nearest water after Howes trail is Howe valley fire station, 3km north on Putty Rd.

Very lush and green landscapes perfect for driving or motorcycling with some windy roads. The road quality varies at different sections so be careful if you are new to the area. Plenty of farms sceneries with cattle grazing. A few lookout and picnic areas to rest and enjoy the views. Not many options when it comes to bars and restaurants but there are a few at Wollombi.

Wow! What a place to visit. We arrived from the east as per the NPWS instructions, unlocked the gate with the code (put in the code then push the bottom righthand button for the electronic padlock to release. If you just put in the code nothing happens. If you can't see very well take a torch so you can see the padlock numbers as the padlock is inside the metal gate post. We only stayed one night, did the 4wd loop around the mountain and then headed west towards the Putty Road. The track kept getting narrower and rougher, but it was an awesome challenge. It took about 2 hours to go 20kms. Going home this way was worth it.

Finchley Trig with a good bottle of red and some nice cheese is a must at sunset. The trig has a crowd nest style platform at its highest point, with a hexagonal table and bench seats at its centre. A trip to Yengo isn't complete without a sunset experience at the trig!!
