Discovery Parks - Gerroa

The staff seemed nice enough in the limited interaction we had due to the minimal staffed hours on arrival. I was pretty disappointed with the cabin - it was a 'budget' offering (mind you, you get a 4 person serviced apartment at Abode in Malua Bay 150m from the beach for the same price). I wasn't aware 'budget' meant 'falling apart'. The stove and oven didn't work, the shower screen didn't move so you had to try to angle the shower head to avoid flooding the bathroom. Half the windows didn't slide fully shut and let the mozzies in. The front deck was lifting and was a trip hazard. Table was rusting with sharp edges on the front porch. Parts of the wall were peeling away in the cabin itself and there wasn't a wall without a dirty mark... We also had a light switch missing it's casing and a curtain that lacks hooks so wasn't very effective. When you want to talk to someone about it - you've got the option of disturbing the after hours manager or living with it....people on a budget should be able to expect a level of basic, safe accommodation too. The roads throughout the park are full of potholes and loose stones which made it interesting for any kind of bikes/scooters/skateboards to transit safely. Pool facility is nice and clean, as is reception and the mini shop in reception. On arrival we discovered there is almost NO mobile phone reception. There is wifi, but if you're not online before peak hour (and remain online) you won't get wifi either. While that might be great for those who want to be off grid - finding out on arrival was sub-optimal. Two single beds weren't made, and on trying to make them I discovered why - it was almost impossible. If you have back/hand/arm injuries don't even try. Seems like it's inhabited mainly by long term sites and the surf school participants - we unfortunately will not be returning.

Set along side the river with plenty of sites in a bushland setting kept clean and tidy we are all a bit close together as always a steep hill to the fisherman's club or a flat stroll to beach

The grounds and pool are so lovely and clean. We will be back for a longer stay as soon as possible. Thank all staff for having us.🤗

The team here is a real stand-out. What spectacular service! We had a Deluxe cabin. Was nothing special, but we didn't need anything special. Air conditioning was very effective, beds comfy and shower functioned well. Often missed in lower budget places. Lakeside was really special, nice views, pleasant atmosphere. Was all superbly clean. We wanted an affordable place to shower and sleep and this was exactly that. Puts many higher paid accommodations to shame. Well done! The only gripe I could muster for the whole stay is a noisy exhaust fan on the bathroom that we actually forgot to report, as the rest was amazing. so if you review these reviews, cabin 17 needs and exhaust fan in the master bathroom 👌
