The Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame is a must-see for any traveller to Australia. The Hall of Fame pays tribute to Australia's pioneers and their contribution to the nation's development.
From the nation's earliest days, the stockman has been a symbol of courage, resilience and hard work, and this Heritage Centre celebrates the lives of these hard-working individuals. Through interactive exhibits, visitors can learn about Australia's heritage, explore stories of the nation's past, and gain insight into the culture and people of the land.
Another wonderful tourist exhibition in Longreach. Definitely worth the visit and the cost of a ticket. The Museum is interactive and engaging. So many wonderful stories about the outback, it's history and the people and animals who worked bloody hard to make this country what it is today. The outdoor venue showcased horses, sheep, sheep dogs and a real wife and husband stockman team were the icing on the cake. Jokes, real scenarios (love the caravanning action) and even tears shed as our presenter and his wife told the story of outback Australia and how important the animals were in this landscape. It was a very moving presentation and the tribute to our beautiful horses was very touching. You've excelled yourself again Longreach. Glad we made this journey from Perth, WA.
An absolutely amazing tribute! As a 25-year veteran and retired Nurse Educator, I deeply appreciated the incredible displays on our history. The sections detailing the legendary Waler horses of WW1 and the vital history of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) were outstanding. A must-visit!
Very modern extravagant setup. Museum with a little difficult for me to follow. Became a bit confusing. But that's just my opinion!!! The audio storytelling headphones are very good. I was particularly impressed by the movie that you can select to be shown on the big screen from your music pod. This was probably the highlight of the museum for me because it gave accurate information about the outback. It was great to read the history of reverend John Flynn and the royal flying Doctors service he started. The the Indigenous impact in the outback was not covered as much as I had hoped. If it wasn't for the indigenous assistance the explorer's would never have survived. I ran out of time so could not do the whole experience. But if you are a family it would be a very expensive. I paid $40 just to see the museum. Spent 1 1/2 hours but could have easily spent more but I was on a time budget. There is ample parking for long vehicles. There is also a cafe selling a variety of food and snacks and drinks. The temperature was invitingly cool compared to the heat outside. Both adults and Children will learn much from this experience.
This place is very informative. It is a pretty impressive set up with the audio and cinemas, exhibits and whip making. Whip demonstrations. Prices were reasonable too.
The Museum was excellent. We spent 90 minutes here. Could have stayed longer. The movie in the cinema was very informative and most interesting. Highlight of the visit was the Outback Show. Loved the poetry and the whip cracking. Absolutely brilliant.
