Regarded as the most professional and well-respected learn-to-surf organisation on the Gold Coast Get Wet is an award-winning, family-owned and operated business offering local knowledge, impeccable safety and outstanding customer service to ensure that participants have the best experience.
Only an 8-minute drive from the heart of Surfers Paradise, The Spit Beach, the home of Get Wet Surf School since 2005, is the true local's surfing paradise. No crowds, no high-rises shadowing the beach, no traffic and loads of free parking.
The sand-pumping jetty and the Seaway wall offer protection from the strong currents and shore dumps that affect the open beaches, allowing perfect sandbanks to form which allow the lesson to be conducted in waist-deep water, safe even for those who are not strong swimmers.
Continually raising the bar for safety, Get Wet was the first surf school on the Gold Coast to insist all instructors hold all qualifications needed, which has since become a national requirement and the first to maintain strict participant-to-instructor ratios well below the national standard (5:1 for adults and 4:1 for children).
Whether you are looking to take up the sport of surfing or just looking for a fun activity to share with your family or friends, their aim is to ensure the experience is fun and safe!

We recently did an introductory lesson at Get Wet Surf School, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. My son and I both had an absolute blast, and it was the perfect way to get into surfing. A big shoutout to Jason, our instructor — he was outstanding. He struck the perfect balance between being professional, encouraging, and genuinely great with kids. He made my son feel comfortable straight away, built his confidence in the water, and kept things fun the whole time. You can tell he really knows what he’s doing and enjoys teaching. The session itself was well run, safe, and very beginner-friendly. We both managed to get up on the board, which was a great result for our first go. The only downside was the photos. While it’s a great idea to offer them, the quality and timing meant we’ll probably only keep a handful out of the set. It would be great to see a bit more consistency there, as it’s a nice way to remember the experience. Overall though, a really positive experience and one we’d definitely recommend — especially if you’re lucky enough to get Jason as your instructor.
I had an amazing experience with Jason today. It was my first time surfing, and I felt safe and had fun the entire time - I also learnt a lot about the ocean and controlling the surf board. Would highly recommend Get Wet Surf School if you want to give surfing a go.
Had a blast with Jason today!!! Beginners lesson soo much fun. Top guy Jason, made us feel very comfortable and safe through our entire experience from the moment we seen him laying on the floor at the office waiting for us, to the very last moment when goodbyes were said and most importantly the in between water safety, board stance, getting the feel of our boards. Great morning, great lesson, great awesome instructor 🏄🏼♀️👌🏼 HIGHLY RECOMMEND GET WET SURF SCHOOL!
Had a great lesson today with Jason who not only gave us very clear instruction on how to manage a surf board and of course, how to surf, but also how to understand beach conditions including rips. It was a fun 2 hours where I felt safe and well supported and had a blast (trying to) surf. Can highly recommend - give it a go, you might surprise yourself!
My daughter had a lesson with Josh and had the BEST time. We booked a private lesson as she got a surfboard for her birthday and wanted to learn how to ride that. He was fantastic with her. Teaching her some ocean safety and starting out on the foam board to check her skills, then much to Amelia’s delight moved onto her board. Josh helped her adjust to the different board and what to watch for. She was up on her board multiple times and now has the confidence to keep practicing. Thanks again Josh for an awesome afternoon, and making Amelia’s day!
