Australian Age of Dinosaurs & Scenic Flight Experience
Come aboard our helicopter and take a commentated scenic flight to the Australian Age of Dinosaurs museum in Winton. The flight is roughly 1 hour each way and while on the flight out and back you'll get to experience the central west from the best advantage point. Henry ('Harry') Redford was an explorer and a cattle thief. In 1870 he stole about 1000 cattle and drove them more than 1200kms across Queensland and South Australia. It was an amazing feat that showed great skill and endurance, and turned Henry Redford into an outback legend. Join our scenic flight to Starlight's Lookout. Legend has it, that this lookout was used by notorious cattle thief, Harry Redford (also known as Captain Starlight) to survey the surrounding plains while stolen cattle were being rounded up. We did the Sunset helicopter ride 🚁 while in Longreach it was Amazing seeing everything from above. Our pilot ‘Jed’ was Excellent, really friendly and knowledgeable of the area would highly recommend taking a flight with Queensland helicopters so much nicer seeing everything from the air 👌

We decided on the Sunset flight during our visit to Longreach. Chris kindly suggested the evening he thought would be our best opportunity to see the Outback sunset from the skies. We certainly weren’t disappointed. It was an amazingly smooth flight with stunning views of the channels and flat plains that Longreach is home to. Thank you for your warm hospitality and showing us Longreach from a very different perspective. I highly recommend this very professional business, it’s a thrilling experience that we will always remember.

My husband and I recently did a sunset flight with Queensland Helicopters in Longreach and it was absolutely magical! From start to finish, the experience was seamless and truly unforgettable. Our pilot, Luke, was friendly and knowledgable, making us feel safe and comfortable throughout the flight. The views over the outback, as the sun set, were breathtaking - there's nothing quite like seeing the vibrant colours stretch across the endless landscape from above. It was such a unique way to take in the beauty of the region, and the perspective from the helicopter made it even more special. We highly recommend Queensland Helicopters if you're looking for an extraordinary way to experience Longreach. This sunset flight is a must-do for anyone visiting the area!

We booked the 20 minute River and Heartland Scenic Flight at Longreach. It was our first helicopter trip and felt a little nervous. Tim was very calm and reassured us before the flight. He communicated throughout the flight and his insights and knowledge of the landscape and waterways was great. The flight was very smooth, visibility and views amazing. We would definitely recommend Queensland Helicopters and hope to do another trip in the future thank you.
