During our Easter break, we planned our trip perfectly to coincide with the 'After the Rain' exhibition at the National Gallery of Australia. This experience was nothing short of remarkable. The exhibition was not only immersive but also left a lasting impression, showcasing art in a way that was both contemplative and profoundly moving. It is this extraordinary quality of exhibitions, paired with the unparalleled permanent collection, that sets the NGA apart from other galleries.

Beautiful gallery with many interesting and ever-changing exhibitions. We visited with our two teenage boys and had a fantastic time exploring the different collections. Entry being free is such a bonus, although paid parking was a little disappointing. Security definitely had their eyes on my boys in every room, which honestly gave us a laugh but completely understandable! The gallery itself is stunning, well maintained and offers something interesting for all ages. A must-visit while in Canberra.

What I liked about the National Gallery of Australia, located in a great location close to the government precinct, was that the building and the exhibition in general felt pretty grand. The museum gives you a variety of cultural insights into art and manages to portray their pieces in a creative way. I like that the museum apparently regularly acquires more art. I hope in the future, it can consolidate its status as a world-class art museum and maybe even expand.
