Pennicott Wilderness Journeys - Tasmanian Seafood Seduction

We did a fantastic day tour to Bruny Island with Pennicott Wilderness Journeys, and it exceeded all expectations. Our driver and guide, Ryan, was excellent—Tasmanian born and bred, relatively new to the role but incredibly knowledgeable about the island’s history and local highlights. He was polite, engaging, and had a great sense of humour, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The tour itself was wonderfully curated, with stops for cheese, beer, honey, and chocolate tastings—each one a treat. Lunch at Pennicott’s beachside restaurant overlooking Adventure Bay was a standout: freshly shucked oysters and the fish of the day were exceptionally fresh, paired with stunning coastal views. A must-visit on Bruny Island is the Bruny Island Chocolate Company—definitely worth indulging! However, the true highlight of the day was a rare and special experience: a private garden tour of Hiba. The name “Hiba,” meaning “a beautiful gift,” perfectly captures the serene and magical atmosphere of this remarkable place. Hiba is a 25-hectare private oceanfront estate and garden created by its owners, Michael Carnes and Bob Lavis. What began around 30 years ago as an empty paddock with little more than blackberry rows has been transformed—over decades—into an extraordinary landscape. It’s still evolving, but already a stunning reflection of their vision and dedication. This garden is not open to the general public, so we felt incredibly fortunate to visit as part of the Pennicott tour. We even had the chance to meet one of the owners, Michael, who was working in the garden and kindly shared insights into the project. All in all, a memorable and highly recommended experience—perfectly blending food, scenery, and a unique glimpse into one of Bruny Island’s hidden gems.

If you visit Hobart/Tasmania and do nothing else, this is a must do. The tour is well run, the staff are fantastic and friendly and the coast line stunning on the Bruny Island boat tour. I can't say enough about our bus driver and deck hand, Kate, who was professional and knowledgeable and our boat driver Mick, who was very good with his skills and a good laugh. We saw towering cliffs, sea caves, a blow hole, albatrosses, terns ,gannets, seals and dolphins. The meal was good at the end and everyone on tour all seemed to be impressed. Don't miss doing this!!

Ires and I are still smiling from our unforgettable time on the Tasmanian Seduction Seafood Cruise Tour. From the moment we stepped on board, it was pure magic. The views? Absolutely stunning. The fresh seafood? Divine! And let's not forget the drinks - we were living our best life! 🍷🐟 But what really made the experience special were our amazing guides and captain, Hugh and Liam. They were the heart and soul of the whole day! They made sure we were soaking in the sights, savoring the food, and just loving every moment. Extra shoutout to Hugh and Liam for being super considerate of Ires since she gets a bit seasick – but guess what? She felt amazing the entire time! No dizziness, no queasiness, just pure enjoyment. She absolutely loved it, and so did I! If you’re looking for a memorable cruise with top-notch seafood, gorgeous views, and guides that go above and beyond, this is it. We couldn't have asked for a better adventure.

We chose to do the Cape Raoul/ Port Arthur tour from Hobart. Departing 7.45 from Hobart we arrived at Port Arthur at 9.45, and boarded the Catamaran at 10.30 for a 90min cruise. Spotting wildlife and amazing scenery along the way, made the time go past quickly. The last 3 1/2 hours we spent at Port Arthur. On the whole the tour was amazing, and worth every minute, plus the commentary was well balanced and informative. Thankyou for a great day.
