The Captain James Cook Memorial is on the shore of Lake Burley Griffin - and in the lake!
This memorial comprises a water jet and a nearby terrestrial globe commemorating the bicentenary of Captain Cook's landing on the east coast of Australia in 1770. The water jet reaches a height of 114 metres. The bronze globe uses meridians of longitude and parallels of latitude to form an open-cage map of the world, with land masses depicted in copper. Lines on the globe illustrate Captain Cook's voyages.

Nice place to spend time sitting on the green lawns and enjoying the view of the lake. The lawns are clean and there is a coffee shop around. Get your picnic rug and picnic basket to enjoy and spend your time. Ample of parking options are available. The place is accessible by public transport and the stop name is regatta point.

Beautiful lakeside location at Captain James Cook memorial. Excellent to spend some time during the evening hours. There is a cycling and walking path along the lake. This point is accessible by bus from the City interchange bus stop followed by a few minutes walk.
