Old Parliament House Gardens offer a pleasant, rose filled place to pause in the heart of the Parliamentary Zone. Located on either side of Old Parliament House are the House of Representatives Garden and Senate Garden.
The roses in this garden were planted during the Great Depression. When parliament moved, the gardens were opened to the public. They were restored in 2004 to their current beauty.
The Old Parliament House Gardens are available for public and corporate functions. Call the National Capital Authority for garden-related enquiries.

The old parliament house gardens are comprised of the Senate gardens and the house of representatives gardens, which flank the historic building in Parks,Canberra. The garden contain rose beds planted by different colours, and is a beautiful sight.The bloom season is typically between October and April.

During visit to Canberra from Sydney, I was there and very interested to visit the Garden. My son suggested me not worth to visit. With my pressure we visited the garden and I was frustrated. There is nothing to see actually. I made my visit in June. It may be off season or it has given less priority after shifting the Parliament in new building. Any way the location is perfect and the history should be preserved to be a proud.

Not a bad spot for tennis and maybe a picnic if your dont mind lots of sun and not the most lush grass , definitely some nice plants around but lots of open areas with brown grass and lots of dirt patches , Would probably prefer any other green space within the city centre !
